Stuart welcomes the Conservative Party manifesto, which sets out a clear plan to give our country a secure future.
Key points from the manifesto:
- Cutting tax for workers with another 2p off National Insurance.
- Removing the main rate of National Insurance for the self-employed.
- Triple Lock Plus to support the State Pension and ensure it is never subject to Income Tax.
- 30 hours of free childcare a week for families and moving to a household system of calculating child benefit
- Mandatory National Service to boost skills and opportunities for young people, with 100,000 more quality apprenticeships.
- Boost defence spending to 2.5% of GDP.
- Introduce a legal cap on migration.
- Increase NHS spending above inflation every year, recruiting 92,000 more nurses and 28,000 more doctors.
- Enshrine biological sex in the Equality Act to protect single-sex spaces and sports.
- Build 1.6 million new homes while protecting the countryside.
- Recruit 8,000 new full-time police officers, rolling out hotspot policing to cut anti-social behaviour in towns.
- Invest £36 billion in roads and local transport.
- Back farmers with £1 billion of new funding and legal target for food security.
Stuart welcomes these commitments and how they will benefit communities right across South Shropshire by providing economic security, controlled immigration, affordable housing and support for public services.
