Stuart Anderson, South Shropshire’s Conservatives Parliamentary Candidate, has backed the Government’s flagship Skills for Life campaign, ‘It all starts with skills.’ The campaign, which launches on 4th January 2024, invites young people, adults, and businesses to make the most of their potential by engaging in the range of government skills and technical education offers that are available.
Stuart said that the campaign is a key part of his priority to unleash rural opportunity, ultimately giving businesses the skilled workforce they need for the economy to thrive. Since 2010, the Government has created T Levels, Skills Bootcamps, Multiply, Free Courses for Jobs, and Higher Level Qualifications (HLQs) as well as new high-quality apprenticeship standards. The new Advanced British Standard will build on the best of T Levels and A Levels, ending the artificial divide between academic and technical education.
Stuart is encouraging young people, adults and businesses across South Shropshire to find out more about all the choices on offer. The Government has created a website at www.skillsforcareers.education.gov.uk/pages/skills-for-life. The website acts as a new digital front door through which residents in Shropshire can access information about skills, training options, and careers.
The campaign is built on the idea that skills can help everybody and every business to realise their full potential, but unless you seize the moment and do something about it now, that potential may never be realised. The Government is encouraging people to make that one day, today.
The campaign highlights how individuals and businesses can harness these programmes and help people climb the Ladder of Opportunity. ‘It all starts with skills’ aims to motivate and equip people to make informed choices, and to gain the skills and qualifications that individuals need to progress with their careers. The campaign’s first phase will run from 4 January to 31 March 2024.
Stuart Anderson said: “A key part of my plan as South Shropshire’s Conservative Parliamentary Candidate is to ensure that local residents, including our young people, know how they can take up skills offers that could change their lives for the better. This will help to unleash rural prosperity, driving economic growth and delivering a better quality of life for all residents in South Shropshire. I would encourage everyone to find out more about the huge range of government skills programmes on offer.”
